Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I am so very thankful for my life and for so many things about it. I thought today I would share a few of them with you.
First of all, I’m thankful for my parents. They were married for 52 years when my dad passed away (hard to believe it’s been over 20 years that he’s been gone). They taught us to work hard, to live within our means (my mom could pinch a penny until it screamed for mercy!) and that family was really important. They always told us that we could never do anything bad enough that we couldn’t come home…and they meant it. And my mom instilled in us a love of Scrabble that has stood the test of time!

My extended family is really cool, too. We don’t have a huge family, like some, but we really enjoy each other’s company. In fact, when there was a divorce in the family, we all decided to keep them both (along with their new spouses). It works for us! Here’s a photo of us a while ago (we’re missing two of the Great-Grandchildren and two Grand-Spouses, but this is the most recent photo I have of the whole bunch).

I’m thankful for my husband of 30+ years. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we have a mutual love for God and His Word, for each other, and for our family. We try to deal with conflicts using liberal amount of humor, and though our kids did see and hear us argue, they also always saw us make up and get back to being a unified “parental unit”.

We have two sweet, wonderful daughters, who enjoy each other’s company and have fun together. They are a hoot. We’re so thankful that we all love being together and can talk and laugh together for hours on end.

And finally (for this post, though there is MUCH more I’m thankful for!), both of our girls have chosen to marry wonderful men who we love. We’re so thankful for their lives and for the love they have for our daughters. We have our second wedding coming up in a month, and it will be a joyful, fun time.

So, enjoy YOUR Thanksgiving day, try not to eat too much and take some time to think about all the things YOU are thankful for.
Until next time,
